Spotlight on Stage Front

Stage Front Presentation Systems

Small town companies can make big waves, as evidenced by the recent unveiling of the HD FlexArm Cam at the American Dental Educators Association conference. Designed by Savannah owned and operated Stage Front Presentation Systems, the Cam provides a quality of full-motion imaging to dental, anatomy and veterinary labs heretofore unaffordable to most universities. The Cam serves as just one of many popular products designed by Stage Front in recent years.

Surprisingly, their beginnings were humble and far removed from the realm of product design.

“We started in 1978 as a two man operation focused on lighting for theaters and night clubs, which constituted a pretty narrow market, especially considering most of our work was in Savannah,” explains Steve Stephens, President of Stage Front.

“Over the years, our product mix and markets grew to respond to a rapidly expanding demand for technology.”

In fact, most of the technology that Stage Front provides today didn’t even exist when they went into business 31 years ago: videoconferencing, flat panel displays, video projection, digital signage, large scale sound reinforcement systems, automated lighting and electronic dimming, etc.

Today, the company designs and builds audio, video and lighting systems that enhance a wide variety of facilities, from courtrooms and classrooms to theatres and churches – virtually any place where people make presentations or perform. They have more than 50 fulltime employees based in Savannah and 14 more out of Atlanta, making Stage Front the largest state A/V company based outside of the metro area. They provide video, audio and lighting for events but they primarily deal in permanent systems, boasting systems installations with the University of Texas – Houston, U.S. Capitol Police in Washington DC, Fort Bragg in North Carolina, AFLAC, UCLA and the University of Panama, to name a few.

What keeps Stage Front in Savannah? Owners Steve and Scott Stephens are brothers, and Savannah natives. For them, there’s no better place to live than Savannah.

“It has just enough hustle without too much hassle,” says Stephens.

“The Creative Coast Alliance has done a better job than any other organization to raise the awareness of Savannah’s intellectual resources and the impact of knowledge based business on our regional economy,” he continues.

“In our national and international dealings, Stage Front and other companies benefit from the “halo effect” of being from Savannah.”
