Victorian District

Savannah’s answer to DUMBO, this hot spot, like its New York cousin, is marked as THE next hub for commercial, retail and design trades.

Renovators and investors are also scraping up cash for the city’s best fixer-uppers. So if you want in, get in now. The starlet mansions are getting snatched up right and left and renovated to their former glory.

What you’ll find:

  • 50 blocks of Victorian and Queen Anne Victorian frame houses built between 1870 and 1910
  • Artists, poets and other creative elite nests, negotiate and make things happen in the Starland Design District (a.k.a. the historic Thomas Square District) – a community centered by its retail storefronts, studios, office spaces and residences
  • Its anchor – Historic Forsyth Park – designed in the 18th century. Walk, jog, bike or pick up a game of b-ball, ultimate frisbee, soccer or lacross. Cushioned by some of the country’s most beautiful architecture
  • Serious workforce material – 7,300+ students from the renowned Savannah College of Art and Design are less than two miles away; Savannah State University, Georgia Tech Savannah, Armstrong Atlantic University, Savannah Technical College, and South University nearby
  • A wide array of commercial properties to chose from. Anywhere from $75 to $150/square foot or rent from $8 to $18 a square foot (the average rental is $10 to $12/sq foot)
  • Residential prices start at $200,000 for a condominium; average single-family home starts at $250,000 and goes up to $450,000 + for an up-to-date, quality renovation
  • Major insterstates – I-16 just over two miles away; I-95 only a few miles further. What does that mean to you? 4 hours driving to Atlanta; 2 to the Florida line
  • It’s only a couple miles from downtown and no more than 20 miles to Savannah’s International Airport; more than 50 direct flights to metro cities across the U.S.
